The purpose of the web guide is to inform staff at a Primary Sydney Catholic School (SCS) of their rights and responsibilities as digital citizens and how to be ethical participants and consumers of online information and images.
The Digital Learning Environment provides an authentic learning experience for our students embedded with strong pedagogical approaches. Information Ethics is an essential component of being a Good Digital Citizen, where we are encouraged to act ethically, respectfully and responsibly, whilst using technology and accessing digital resources to support and meet the needs of our community.
The Australian Curriculum (2019) defines a digital citizen as “a person who has the knowledge and skills to effectively use digital technologies to communicate with others, participate in society and create and consume digital content.”
The Working Together Principle;
The Making The World a Better Place Principle;
and The Technology Principle,
These specific principles remind us in our learning community it is important to respect others, promote equality and inclusiveness, value social justice and fairness and use technology responsibly.
