An algorithmic application that represents the density of monthly transport to and from the Aegean islands across the course of a year.

The data covers both sea and air: the connections that tie the mainland Greek cities, and the international hubs beyond them, to the archipelago. Taken together they describe something that no map of the Aegean shows — that the islands are not a fixed geography but a rhythm, thickening in summer, thinning almost to nothing in winter, and doing so differently for every island depending on who wants to reach it and why.

The work makes that rhythm audible. Transport density is translated into sound, and what the visitor hears is a heartbeat whose tempo follows the intensity of movement. The archipelago is presented, in other words, as a body with a pulse — one that races for three months of the year and slows almost to stopping for the rest.
