This lecture entitled as “Physical Computing. Information in the public space” highlights the capabilities and management tools of digital information focusing on the emerging relationship with the real space of the city being interconnected networks and services belonging to the realm of the intangible. The information is intangible but ever more vital for our understanding of the space, the city, the scale of everyday life since as models expand and organise the possible actions.
Architecture - the science-space can function as a system consisting of synergy of matter and information. With the triangle: Standard, Object or Property, System, proposes a distinction that can function as a general principle, a methodology that serves the steps of analysis, synthesis and design.
The goal is to understand the new qualities that can bring the mechanisms of interactive systems in public space, repositioning the issue of the central idea, function and form, through the prism of malleable new material information.
The lecture introduces to Physical Computing as a dynamic system for the design and construction of interactive installations that can meet different and varying scales, with emphasis also on human perception and action.
