There are Five special programs which is:
Journalism, Tech Voc, Arts, Foreign Language and, Sports
The Special program in Journalism (SPJ) is developed to enrich the experiences, hone the journalistic skills and competencies of student-writers and to strengthen free and responsible journalism.
Aims to:
•Strengthen free and responsible journalism in secondary schools.
•Identify areas of development in various aspects of journalism.
• Formulate concrete plans of action for the pilot implementation of the program.
• Orient the participants on the program, its scope, target clientele, implementing guidelines and its learning standards.
• Enhance students’ and teachers’ journalistic skills and competencies.
• Promote a spirit of camaraderie, cooperation and commitment of our youths to contribute to the common good, national unity and progress.
• Ensure commitment and shared responsibility towards attainment of program goals.
Tech-Voc Program is a skills training program that aims to empower various communities by means of capacity building and basic financial management and expand employment opportunities for underemployed and unemployed sectors and individuals.
Aims to:
• Students will gain proficiency in various technical areas, including programming, software development, web design, networking, and cybersecurity.
• Tech Voc programs emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving skills, enabling students to analyze challenges, develop solutions, and apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.
•The programs encourage students to explore innovative ideas, experiment with new technologies, and develop creative solutions to complex problems.
• Tech Voc emphasizes the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication in a technology-driven environment.
• Students will gain practical experience through hands-on projects, internships, and industry collaborations, preparing them for successful careers in the technology sector.
The Special Program for the Arts is a nationwide program for students with potentials or talents in the Arts. One pilot school in every region was selected to pilot and implement this program and is now on its tenth year of implementation. SPA (Special Program in the Arts) is a program made by the Department of Education in the Philippines to give talented students a chance to enhance their talents in different fields.
Aims to:
• Students will learn and refine their technical skills in various art forms like painting, drawing, sculpture, music, dance, theater, and digital media.
• Art programs encourage students to explore their creativity, express themselves through different mediums, and develop their unique artistic voice.
• Students will learn to analyze artworks, understand artistic concepts, and develop critical thinking skills that can be applied to various disciplines.
• Art programs expose students to different artistic traditions and cultures, broadening their perspectives and promoting cultural understanding.
• Students will learn to communicate their artistic ideas effectively, collaborate with others, and contribute to artistic projects.
• Art programs equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for careers in the arts, design, education, and other creative fields.
The goal is to help students understand how to improve technique, prevent injuries, and perform more effectively in sports. Across the grades the focus progresses from fundamental movement, to analyzing skills for different sports, to designing customized conditioning programs for individual sports and team sports.
Aims to:
•Enhance physical fitness and skills: Students will improve their physical fitness, develop specific skills for their chosen sport, and learn proper techniques for training and competition.
•Promote teamwork and leadership: Sports programs emphasize teamwork, communication, and leadership skills, fostering a collaborative environment where students learn to work together towards common goals.
•Develop discipline and perseverance: Students will learn the importance of discipline, perseverance, and commitment through rigorous training and competition, building resilience and a strong work ethic.
•Foster sportsmanship and respect: Sports programs emphasize fair play, ethical conduct, and respect for opponents and officials, promoting a positive and inclusive sports culture.
•Improve mental and emotional well-being: Participation in sports can improve mental and emotional well-being, reducing stress, boosting self-esteem, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
•Prepare for competitive sports or careers in the field: Students can develop the skills and experience needed for higher-level competition or careers in coaching, sports management, or related fields.
The SPFL helps learners develop skills in listening, reading, writing, speaking, and viewing that are fundamental in acquiring communicative competence in a second foreign language. This program aims to enhance the ability of learners to engage in meaningful interaction in a linguistically and culturally diverse global workplace. More importantly, the SPFL looks to further develop learners’ understanding and appreciation of other people’s culture.
Aims to:
•Develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing: Students will gain fluency in the target language by developing their skills in all four areas of language learning, enabling them to communicate effectively in real-world situations.
•Increase cultural understanding: Foreign language programs expose students to the target language's culture, history, literature, and customs, fostering cultural awareness and empathy.
•Enhance critical thinking and problem-solving: Students will learn to analyze language, interpret cultural nuances, and solve problems in a cross-cultural context, developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•Expand global perspectives: Learning a foreign language opens doors to new perspectives, broadening students' understanding of the world and promoting intercultural communication.
•Prepare for diverse career paths: Foreign language skills are highly valuable in today's globalized world, opening doors to careers in international business, diplomacy, translation, education, and other fields.
