SECOND METER INFORMATION
THIS PROCEDURE VARIES FROM TOWN TO TOWN – EACH TOWN IS HAS A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT PROCEDURE
Home owner apply for meter at the water department – the plumber coordinates with the town & sets up the pipes in the basement ready to accept the new meter – home owner or plumber contacts town & they come out to install the meter – The town bills the homeowner directly for the meter (I don’t know how much they charge) -
The proposal includes plumbing (we have our licensed sub-contract plumber) to tie the system into the house & install the required back prevention devise on the outside of the house. If you decide to install a second meter the plumber who installs the back flow can do the meter. IMPORTANT NOTE – Preparing & setting up for the meter requires, permit fee, additional plumbing work, fittings & parts & typically adds $500.00–$800.00 to the system (not including the meter).
Why Do IT? Some towns allow second meters for the outside water use & the water used through the second meter is billed at a lower rate because they deduct the sewer rate.
