Mercenaries is a custom ruleset for Infinity written by myself and other community members to bring a more narrative format to the Infinity game engine. Think of systems like Necromundo and Mordheim (or even XCOM) where players get to create and upgrade custom troopers and deploy them on special narrative missions but all while using the amazing game engine written by Corvus Belli.
A full season of Mercenaries is 8 contracts (missions) where players are given 1 to 2 weeks for each round. This season will be played both on and offline in a mixed format. All players will be required to join the Mercenaries discord so I can smoothly provide pairings and other updates, however, games may (and are encouraged to) be played in person. When signing up players will indicate their preferred city/cities and also indicate if they wish to play online games (via Tabletop Simulator). *players will be allowed to change this preference at any time.* When I create pairings I will only pair players with other players with the same preferences. In this way we will all be playing in one large Texas event although most players will be playing in their own local meta. For the last round (maybe 2 rounds in one day) I will try to organize/host a cross city event for all the local metas to meet up as they are able but attending this will be 100% optional.

Note that for many of ya'll this will be your first Mercenaries event so we are using a ruleset with fewer systems and features to make learning easier. This ruleset can be found here. That's all good, you can still join! Mercenaries has an Inducements system (similar to Blood Bowl) that helps teams of different strengths play against each other.Â
This season will not have a strong narrative (to keep things simple) and will instead be themed after the Holidays. Each round will be associated with a nearby holiday and the contract selection will play into that. Additionally we will try to add some fun thematic rules along the way. Furthermore, players are encouraged to create holiday (of any kind) themed companies but any fun company idea/theme you might have is welcome.
