The city of Puerto Madryn was founded in 1865 with the arrival of the first Welsh. It has a tourist offer and an indisputable strategic location, being the largest service center of the Patagonian coast and the gateway to the Valdés Peninsula, declared by UNESCO in 1999, Natural Patrimony of Humanity.
The main revenues are favored by the production of Aluminum, fishing activity and tourism, an activity that was born in the 60's when the New Bay Submarine Tourism Promotion Commission was formed with the purpose of designing and building artificial reefs within of the San José and Nuevo gulfs, places that tourists currently visit to perform the traditional submarine baptism in this distinguished National Diving Capital.
