Inference

Mathematics and Statistics 2.9 (AS91264)

Use statistical methods to make an inference

This site covers a 4 credit NCEA level 2 standard.

It follows on from AS91035 (Investigate a given multivariate data set using the statistical enquiry cycle) at Level 1.

A key difference between the Level 1 standard and this standard is the construction of an informal confidence interval for the population median (ICI). This involves taking a sample from a population.

It is recommended that you use NZ Grapher (or iNZight) as the statistical analysis tool for your statistical investigation.

Statistical investigations follow the statistical inquiry cycle (PPDAC: Problem, Plan, Data, Analysis, Conclusion).

Your report will use a sample to make an inference about a population.
