About Our lab

Dr. Jha’s lab started in August 2016 at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore and since then it has been a playfield of innovative and ingenious ideas covering vivid biological aspects. The infection bioengineering group believes in an interdisciplinary approach to viral, bacterial infection-related cancers, brain-related disorders, and pathogens in routine life. We work in collaboration with various departments and institutes with expertise in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Material Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, and Computational Biology.

Principally we investigate facets of Epstein Barr virus (EBV), an omnipresent virus responsible for the kissing disease in gastric cancer and neurological modalities like multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. Apart from EBV, our research is focused on the role of Helicobacter pylori and kinases in gastric cancer. We have expanded our horizon by including an investigation of EBV reactivated malaria. We are using genomics, genetic, proteomic, biochemical, and in silico methods to understand the processes mentioned above. We have recently unraveled various mysteries related to SARS-CoV-2 infections like its association with gastric infection, neurological alterations, other comorbidities like hypertension diabetes, including a brief study of virus mutants and probable signaling induced by SARS-CoV-2 in a host cell.
