Dog rescue has been a big part of my life since 2013.
It started simply — putting out charity donation tins for a local rescue. Over time I became more involved through fundraising, fostering, and hands-on rescue work.
Eventually this led to running my own small rescue effort, helping dogs who need a second chance.
One breed that holds a special place in my heart is the Belgian Shepherd Malinois.
These dogs are intelligent, powerful working dogs and incredibly loyal — but they are not a breed for inexperienced owners.
When I first took one on myself, it was a huge learning curve and required years of patience and understanding. Eventually people began asking me for advice on handling and training them.
Unfortunately the breed has recently become fashionable, leading to backyard breeding and many inexperienced owners taking them on.
Sadly this often results in dogs ending up in shelters, frustrated and misunderstood, and many are eventually euthanised.
Whenever possible I take in one or two dogs at a time, rehabilitate them, and carefully find the right forever home where they can thrive.
This work is mostly funded from my own pocket, with occasional help from kind donations.
Every dog deserves a chance to live the life they were meant for.
