Plagiarism Policy
At PRAKRITI - The International Multidisciplinary Research Journal, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing practices. To ensure the authenticity of research contributions, we have a strict policy against plagiarism.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the act of using another individual’s work, ideas, data, or expressions without proper acknowledgment, whether intentionally or unintentionally. This includes, but is not limited to:
Direct copying of text, figures, or tables from another source without citation.
Paraphrasing substantial portions of someone else's work without attribution.
Reusing one’s own previously published work (self-plagiarism) without proper citation or permission.
Plagiarism Check Process
Initial Screening: All submitted manuscripts are subjected to plagiarism detection software to ensure originality.
Manual Verification: Any flagged content is reviewed by our editorial team to assess the context and extent of overlap.
Author Notification: If potential plagiarism is identified, the corresponding author is informed and required to address the issue before the manuscript proceeds further in the review process.
Acceptable Similarity Threshold
While a small degree of similarity is inevitable, manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 15% (excluding references, methodology, and quotations) are subject to rejection or revision, depending on the severity of the issue.
Consequences of Plagiarism
In cases where plagiarism is confirmed:
Minor Overlap: Authors may be asked to revise the manuscript and properly cite the sources.
Significant Plagiarism: The manuscript will be rejected immediately, and the authors may be barred from submitting to PRAKRITI for a specified period.
Published Articles: If plagiarism is detected post-publication, the article will be retracted, and a notice of retraction will be published.
Authors’ Responsibility
Authors submitting manuscripts to PRAKRITI are expected to:
Ensure the originality of their work.
Appropriately cite all sources and references.
Avoid fragmenting research findings into multiple submissions (salami slicing).
Journal’s Commitment
We adhere to ethical guidelines prescribed by organizations like the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Our editorial team and reviewers are trained to identify potential plagiarism and uphold the journal's integrity.
By submitting to PRAKRITI, authors agree to comply with this plagiarism policy. We believe that fostering a culture of ethical research and publishing will lead to credible and impactful contributions to the global academic community.
