Introduction

Hahaha, yes, I am pretty great aren't I? Oh hi, I didn't see you there. My name is Indra the Lord of the Skies, the Vanquisher of Vritra the Great Evil, and more! In this storybook you will see some of the crazy antics that I get up to. I go through a lot of highs and lows, and throughout my life I learn a lot while always looking amazing.

At one point I earned the right to be the king of Svarga, or heaven, and I was spectacular during my rule. However, I still had some things to learn because even I, the Vanquisher of Vritra, make mistakes and you will learn about this later. Let me tell you a little more about my awesome powers. I am the deity of storms, lighting, thunder, rain, war, and the sky itself. As you can see I have a lot of responsibilities to take care of and I stay pretty busy all the time. Along with all of this I am also the king of Svarga, so I have the additional duty of making sure everything in my domain runs smoothly.

In this storybook you will see three of the many adventures I go on, and boy do I go on many. One time I took my son Arjuna to Svarga and showed him the many splendors I have, but that is a story for another time and not one I will go into here. The first one we will explore is how I defeated Vritra, a demon who plagued the world. Now this was not an easy feat and many before me tried, but only I was able to finally slay him. It took a lot of work but by using my vast arsenal and tactical mind I managed to do it, leading everyone to crown me king.

The second story will revolve around my time as king and an journey I went on to make me a better ruler. Now I did not do this of my own accord, but some people thought that I was getting a big head and that I needed to be knocked down a peg. I left Svarga due to a ploy that involved ants, and you will see how much I grew as a person because of my adventure.

The last story involves my beautiful wife Sachi. She is my queen and has been through a lot with me. Actually, Sachi is the one who helped me a lot during my journey, she guided me, and assisted in helping me redeem myself by telling me about Nahusha. He was my replacement and ruled Svarga while I was gone, but soon everything went downhill and they had to call me to fix it. That is all for now, but I look forward to seeing you soon, so that I can really tell you all the details about the antics I have gotten up to.
