Is this you?
"I have the art skills but no credits. I keep applying to jobs that require experience, but no one will hire me..."
or
"How do I get experience if nobody will hire me?"
It was DEFINITELY me about 4 years ago. What if I told you, "You don't have to wait for a AAA studio to hire you to give you experience." That sounds obvious, but some artists are sitting by the phone waiting for a large studio to call them back to hire them in order to get their dream job as an Game Art Artist.
So, Who am I? I'm Joe Wills, an artist, creator and illustrator. I'm a published comic artist, and have been working in the Game Dev industry for a little over 4 years now. I've collaborated with creatives on indie projects and worked on projects with larger companies here and there, but the majority of my income came from INDIE CREATORS needing QUALITY WORK.
Although, I found that if I wanted to do ART FOR A LIVING, it's ok to not play in the NBA of the art world, and play the Minor Leagues for reasonably steady RELIABLE INCOME. Just for the love of the game.
Excuse the awkward metaphor... I don't know sports.
Working for Riot or Blizzard or Santa Monica Games would be a dream for most of us, but that competition is so steep, that unless you're a ROCKSTAR artist [which, lets face, it most of us are not] then you're going to have a HARD TIME even being seen through all of the applications and portfolios being submitted to these companies. Not saying you shouldn't shoot for the stars! If that's your goal, MORE POWER TO YOU! I'll cheer you on. But, for most, that is not in the cards.
With this course, you will be given all the tools to get your first ART CREDIT on REAL PROJECTS to help bolster your portfolio with true experience that can land you steady work doing what you love. Which is why you do it right?
No angle. This is just helpful advice from someone who's been where you are are, have found a bit of success and income doing what we love... ART. These are tips/tricks/and honed advice from professional mentors I've had during my life and years of trial and error so you don't have to go through the rejections, frustrations, and feelings of being taken advantage of that I went through.
The Indie Artist Loop™
FOCUS: EFFORTS→ PROVE: YOUR VALUE → CONNECT: WITH REAL CLIENTS→ LEVEL UP: YOUR CRAFT AND EXPERIENCE → REPEAT
Pretty simple, right? WEEEELLLL... lets explain what the course entails.
This is for beginner and intermediate Artists with little or no professional game experience credits. It will help you focus your efforts, hone in on what you want to do, and make genuine connections to help you get work on a semi consistent basis. Ensuring you get experience with everything from Polishing your portfolio to learning the work pipeline and even negotiating contracts and pricing with clients so you don't talk yourself out of a job.
People looking for advanced AAA studio training, etc. If you're at that level, you may not benefit from this course. Especially if you've already worked at a AAA studio before. If anything you might be able to give us some advice!
WITH THIS COURSE YOU'LL LEARN
You don't need art credit or prior experience to get steady work doing art as a job. You need evidence that you're good at a specific thing, that you understand the people who need it, and that you're consistently putting yourself in front of them.
I WOULD give this information for FREE. A couple of years ago, I wouldn't have paid for a course like this because, at the time, I felt "I can just figure it out". ALTHOUGH, knowing what I know now, there are so many NUANCED situations and behind the curtains things I wish I knew that are just NOT covered in Youtube Videos and other trainings I've seen about Art and this industry in general.
With that said, giving it away for free will not help drive home how important this is, and honestly, I think I may be underpricing this course, but I don't want to "price myself out" of a potential opportunity to help out where I KNOW I can help.
SO, I'm giving this course to you for only $99 bucks.
Hopefully, that didn't scare you away. i know I can help you fulfill your dream of making cool and fun art as a full-time job.
