• Understanding the structure of Wikipedia (articles, talk pages, editing, etc.)
• Importance of reliable sources and citations in Wikipedia
Contributions to the MediaWiki Ecosystem (30 minutes)
• Exploring the different ways to contribute to the MediaWiki ecosystem beyond content creation.
• Overview of MediaWiki software and its ecosystem
• Understanding the role of volunteers in maintaining and improving Wikipedia
• Exploring ways to contribute to Wikipedia (editing, creating new articles, adding references, etc.)
• Importance of community guidelines, policies, and etiquette in Wikipedia
Question and Answer session (15 minutes)
• An interactive session for participants to ask questions related to the content covered so far.
• Addressing any questions or concerns participants may have regarding Wikipedia or sister projects.
Wikipedia Account Creation and Sandbox (45 minutes)
A hands-on session to cover the following:
• Step-by-step guide to creating a Wikipedia account
• Introduction to the Wikipedia sandbox for practicing editing without affecting live articles
• Explain how to use the sandbox, which is a safe space to practice editing Wikipedia articles.
• Guided exercise: Creating and editing a sandbox page to practice basic Wikipedia editing, including adding text, formatting, and adding citations.following
• Tips and best practices for editing in Wikipedia
Wrap-up:(10 minutes)
• Recap of key points covered during the tutorial.
