During 16th AGM of ITU APT and curtain raise on 5G, Dr. Malcolm Johnson Deputy Secretary General, ITU Geneva launched the India Global 6G forum, a joint initiative of ITU-APT, TEMA, CMAI Association of India.
6G will accelerate the digitalization of economies and society, moving the world significantly closer to becoming a truly global and digital community.
5G went live in 2018 and the rollout of commercial networks has been accelerating. Despite the promises of advanced use cases such as industrial IoT and driverless cars, all the commercial services currently have to offer is enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), meaning service providers have relied on fast internet access and high data speed as the key selling points. This has led technology experts to claim what we have now is not real 5G.
