I checked up the currency which I had in my pocket, with the one our customer came had, with the one our office boy had, with the one a Tax inspector had, with the one the lady selling groceries on the footpath - but none of them had any black color on it! They were all in original colours give by RBI when they printed them, except for the wear and tear!

I tried to do a Google and the Wikipedia results showed that Indian Black Money, earned where taxes have not been paid. Since there does not exist a word called black money. The origin of this word seems to be BLACK MARKET, which was the fallout of the license raj where everything was black marketed. This coupled up with corruption led to a huge amassing of wealth, which should have been termed as BLACK WEALTH. But the content writers of NAMO (they are among the best in India, must have a secret pact of revenue sharing with Whatsapp!), interpreted it to be Money and all merged various constituents of money as black money.

Globally no country calls it Black Money, they call it money earned from illegitimate sources. Money can be legitimate or illegitimate; in case it is legitimate, then it needs to be seen whether the taxes are paid or not and that would constitute it as so called black or white. In case it illegitimate, then it needs to be seen whether it comes from corruption (& Harassment) or comes from evading taxes, crime money etc..

A CURRENCY NOTE is just a IOU written by the RBI governor that anyone who holds this currency, as long as it is not fake, will be given an equivalent value of sum or other currency and he cannot put any restriction to what I give back to him as long as it is not fake.

RBI does not put any Terms & Conditions on either side of the currency note; neither is there a fine print to get it checked from a lawyer! ALL currency notes have been printed, delivered and put into circulation by the RBI, under policies of Government and thus the Currency Notes of 5000/1000 cannot be termed as Black Money. The physical state of any money, whether in CASH in currency notes or in the form of Bank Balance, does not constitute whether it is black or white.

Let us understand this with an example. I have got Rs. 25000 cash in my pocket and my friend also has got the same amount. So whose is Black or White. Let us go one step back. Both of us withdrew this money from our respective bank accounts. Can you see at this stage whether it is black or white not yet. So now let us see how the money came to our respective accounts. I got a personal loan in my bank for this money and my friend got this from his salary on which he paid taxes. Still we cannot term this as Black Money. Could you find any so called black money involved here. In the above example if one of the person is changed to a Government servant and he earned it out of corruption/harassment or unfair means, then it shall be termed as Black Money.

The entire agricultural economy is cash based. The farmers in India do the entire transaction in cash. Yes they are fully compliant in not filing income tax returns, since it is tax free for them. So it might so happen that the entire cash lying with a farmer (which was earned by legitimate means), is tagged as Black due to a surgical strike!

To make things simpler, we shall stick to black money as PM Modi calls it. The ORIGIN of money tells us about whether it is legally acquired or illegally acquired. The PHYSICAL state of money cannot tell you whether it is legal or illegal money or Black Money.

The more the Government spends, the more it is generated! So is this a necessary evil? People evade taxes; politicians or Government employees out of corruption earn this money, mostly in physical form and is called black money. Some intelligent people convert it into White money and bring it back to the system.

And in most of the cases, it has now been converted into BLACK WEALTH, ie., assets acquired from this black money. The Indian Black Money has been converted into GREEN, BROWN, YELLOW etc.! Most of the people who got this black money, have converted it into BLACK WEALTH, which is never black, but Green (Agricultural Lands), Brown (Real Estate in towns) and Yellow (Gold) and so many other colours.

What was left in the physical state, was the buying power of the Indian economy! The purchasing power to keep the economy running, which has evaporated in thin air by a chemical experiment done by a Scientist, called NAMO!

We have been hearing all this for the past 11 days and most of us are happy that the black money will be removed, that there would not be corruption and all the evils of the typical highly status conscious Indian society will be resolved by this magic wand of PM Modi! I have my doubts as far as tax evasion or harassment based earnings are concerned. They would still be there.

Master stroke, is turning out to be a mistake and more mysteries. This is evident by the N number of changes/amendments brought about in the entire scheme in the past 8 days and it shows that the grip or the entire project my jeopardise. Apparently to me it seems that till the larger problem of harassment (and minor problem of corruption) is fully controlled, this banning of 86% of the cash of country will not solve many issues.

And when my wife Jane and I spent five weeks in India in 2011, it never occurred to me to shoot anything but color, which I did with abandon and what I thought at the time was satisfying result. (I must confess there were moments I even fancied myself a cut-rate Raghubir Singh.)

I came away from the trip reminded that black and white, in India or elsewhere, is often the wiser choice for portraiture, where color, especially vivid color, can take the eye away from the subject. Black and white also separates people from their surroundings, which, I suppose, is another way of saying the same thing.

Black pepper is native to the Malabar Coast of India,[3][4] and the Malabar pepper is extensively cultivated there and in other tropical regions. Ground, dried, and cooked peppercorns have been used since antiquity, both for flavour and as a traditional medicine. Black pepper is the world's most traded spice,[5] and is one of the most common spices added to cuisines around the world. Its spiciness is due to the chemical compound piperine, which is a different kind of spiciness from that of capsaicin characteristic of chili peppers. It is ubiquitous in the Western world as a seasoning, and is often paired with salt and available on dining tables in shakers or mills.

Black pepper is produced from the still-green, unripe drupe of the pepper plant.[2] The drupes are cooked briefly in hot water, both to clean them and to prepare them for drying.[9] The heat ruptures cell walls in the pepper, speeding the work of browning enzymes during drying.[9] The drupes dry in the sun or by machine for several days, during which the pepper skin around the seed shrinks and darkens into a thin, wrinkled black layer. Once dry, the spice is called black peppercorn. On some estates, the berries are separated from the stem by hand and then sun-dried without boiling.[2] After the peppercorns are dried, pepper spirit and oil can be extracted from the berries by crushing them.

White pepper consists solely of the seed of the ripe fruit of the pepper plant, with the thin darker-coloured skin (flesh) of the fruit removed. This is usually accomplished by a process known as retting, where fully ripe red pepper berries are soaked in water for about a week so the flesh of the peppercorn softens and decomposes; rubbing then removes what remains of the fruit, and the naked seed is dried. Sometimes the outer layer is removed from the seed through other mechanical, chemical, or biological methods.[10]

Ground white pepper is commonly used in Chinese, Thai, and Portuguese cuisines. It finds occasional use in other cuisines in salads, light-coloured sauces, and mashed potatoes as a substitute for black pepper, because black pepper would visibly stand out. However, white pepper lacks certain compounds present in the outer layer of the drupe, resulting in a different overall flavour.[citation needed]

Green pepper, like black pepper, is made from unripe drupes. Dried green peppercorns are treated in a way that retains the green colour, such as with sulfur dioxide, canning, or freeze-drying. Pickled peppercorns, also green, are unripe drupes preserved in brine or vinegar.

Fresh, unpreserved green pepper drupes are used in some cuisines like Thai cuisine and Tamil cuisine. Their flavour has been described as "spicy and fresh", with a "bright aroma."[11] They decay quickly if not dried or preserved, making them unsuitable for international shipping.

Red peppercorns usually consist of ripe peppercorn drupes preserved in brine and vinegar. Ripe red peppercorns can also be dried using the same colour-preserving techniques used to produce green pepper.[12]

Pink peppercorns are the fruits of the Peruvian pepper tree, Schinus molle, or its relative, the Brazilian pepper tree, Schinus terebinthifolius, plants from a different family (Anacardiaceae). As they are members of the cashew family, they may cause allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, for persons with a tree nut allergy.

The bark of Drimys winteri ("canelo" or "winter's bark") is used as a substitute for pepper in cold and temperate regions of Chile and Argentina, where it is easily found and readily available. In New Zealand, the seeds of kawakawa (Piper excelsum), a relative of black pepper, are sometimes used as pepper; the leaves of Pseudowintera colorata ("mountain horopito") are another replacement for pepper. Several plants in the United States are also used as pepper substitutes, such as field pepperwort, least pepperwort, shepherd's purse, horseradish, and field pennycress. 152ee80cbc
