Anna Potapenko

Anna Potapenko is a Senior Research Engineer at Google DeepMind and a co-author of the Nature paper "Highly accurate protein structure prediction with AlphaFold". Before joining the team, Anna was working on NLP topics and obtained her PhD on probabilistic topic modeling and text embeddings. 

 

Maha EL Bayad

Maha Elbayad is a senior research scientist at FAIR (Meta AI) based in Menlo Park, CA. She specializes in massively multilingual and multimodal machine translation models for speech and text. She completed her PhD in 2020 from Université Grenoble Alpes, where she worked at Laboratoire d'informatique de Grenoble and Inria on the subject of neural machine translation. Her doctoral thesis explored novel designs of sequence-to-sequence models for efficient offline and streaming machine translation. 

Meriam Moujahid

Meriam Moujahid is currently a research associate at Heriott Watt university in Edinburgh, UK. Meriam is also completing her PhD at the Edinburgh centre of robotics. Meriam has 1 MSc in human robot interaction and another MSc in software engineering, she has over 10 years of experience working in academia as well as in the industry around the globe. She is the founder and CEO of Interact robotics ltd.

Girmaw Abebe Tadesse

Girmaw is a Principal Research Scientist and Manager at Microsoft AI for Good Research Lab which aims to develop AI solutions for critical problems across sectors including agriculture, healthcare, biodiversity, etc. Prior to that he was a Staff Research Scientist at IBM Research Africa working on detecting and characterizing systematic deviations in data and machine learning models, with active collaborations with external institutions such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Stanford University, and Harvard University. Previously, Girmaw also worked as a Postdoctoral ML Researcher for Healthcare at the University of Oxford. He has interned/worked in various research groups across Europe, including the UPC-BarcelonaTech (Spain), KU Leuven (Belgium), and INESC-ID (Portugal). Girmaw is a prolific inventor with more than 20 patents filed at the US patent office. Girmaw currently serves as an Executive Member for IEEE Kenya Section, and a Reviewer, Co-organizer and PC member for multiple AI focused scientific venues. Recently, Girmaw delivered a keynote at ICLR 2023. 

Akram Zaytar

Akram Zaytar is a Senior Applied Research Scientist at the Microsoft AI for Good Research Lab. His work leverages satellite imagery, computer vision, and data science to address some of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time, including climate change and food security.

Before joining Microsoft, Akram Zaytar completed his postdoctoral research at IBM Research where he focused on GeoSpatial Machine learning and applied research. During his time there, he worked on projects including crop mapping at national scales by fusing multiple satellite bands, quantifying the role of extreme weather events on agricultural yield variation, and post-processing ECMWF forecasts using probabilistic ML models.

Akram has a strong interest in GeoSpatial machine learning, deep neural networks, foundation models, and self/weakly-supervised learning.


EL Habib Benlahmar

BEN LAHMAR El Habib is a full Professor of computer science at Faculty of Science Ben M'Sik Casablanca (UH2C). His research interests span both Web semantic , NLP, AI and Data science. he has contributed to the organization of some international conferences, and he is a reviewer in several prestigious scientific journals. 

Fatima Zahra Fagroud

Fatima Zahra Fagroud is a doctor in computer science and a professor of computer science. She obtained her doctorate in computer science from the Ben M'Sik Faculty of Science in 2023. Fatima Zahra is a member of the winning team of the 2nd prize of the 1st cycle of the DDR Award MENA 2021 and Regional Ambassador of the Hackathon of the World Innovation Day of United Nations for the 2022 and 2023 Edition. She was nominated as the best researcher in "Internet of things and information retrieval" by International Research Excellence and Citation Awards and best researcher in "IoT application and IoT devices retrieval" by International Research Awards on Internet of Things and Applications. She is a member of the ABCD index, as well as serving on the review committees of various international journals and conferences. She is chair of the international workshops A2IoT and IA&Nlp and a member of the organizing committee of various national and international workshops and conferences. Her research interests include information retrieval, the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence. 

Zakaria Rguibi

Zakaria Rguibi is a Moroccan artificial intelligence researcher. He is currently the Head of Artificial Intelligence Department at PROCHECK SA, a Moroccan company that provides software solutions for the manufacturing industry. He is also a PhD student in Computer Science at the Université Hassan 1er in Settat, Morocco. His research interests include machine learning, deep learning, and medical imaging .


Mohamed-Amine Chadi

Mohamed-Amine CHADI, 27 years old, from Morocco. He got both Master's and bachelor's degrees in fields related to biomedical engineering and biomedical informatics. Then, a Ph.D. in AI, specifically, deep & reinforcement learning (for biomedical applications), from the University of Cadi Ayyad in Marrakech.Currently working as an independent researcher and AI advisor for companies and other academic researchers in applications related to decision-making, generative AI, LLMs, embedding & data retrieval systems, with the goal of blending academia and industry to drive useful innovation.
