Various studies have built a foundation to the fundamentals of biology. Despite the vast differences between humans on this planet, research and experiments have narrowed down the basic functions of humans. While these discoveries have drastically changed and contributed to what we know about life, why is it that numerous of these ideas that are upheld stem from a small amount of men? Diversity plays a huge role for genetic variation, yet most of the information come from a narrowed group of individuals. The lack of knowledge of other extraordinary people sometimes raises the question of how accurate all the knowledge we have truly is. The purpose of this blog is to raise awareness of diversity in the scientific field. Everyone has different backgrounds, and each one influences how individuals grow up and how they use their experiences to develop what we know. While there are an abundant number of individuals who have all contributed to the field of biology, this blog will focus primarily on three amazing individuals part of the minority.
