The Villain (1979)
The Villain (1979)
An almost unwatchably cheesy western comedy starring Kirk Douglas and directed by Hal Needham (Smokey & The Bandit). I'd suggest you just skip to the train scenes.
Here we have Kirk once again reunited with the V&T "Reno," which was moved to the San Manuel Arizona RR for filming. A very worn-out looking V&T Coach #19 and possibly Baggage Car #1 are being pulled behind it. Sadly this whole train was burned in the big fire in the 1990s at Old Tucson but the engine was mostly saved. What remains of the cars are on display at Old Tucson.
All the men in town can't avert their eyes from Charming Jones (Ann-Margret). Here they're hanging out on the back of Coach #19.
We are shown a single shot of Sierra RR's #3 pulling a passenger train through the Red Hills of Sonora, which was obviously lifted from another production. It looks like the same livery it was sporting for The Great Bank Robbery, although with a different consist.
The train depot scenes were shot at Old Tucson. Unfortunately, the depot set burned in the fire and the platform decking is all that remains.
More cartoonish antics ensue when Cactus Jack gets "glued" to the tracks and gets flattened to the front of the train.
