The Missouri Breaks (1976)
The Missouri Breaks (1976)
Jack Nicholson stars as horse thief Tom Logan who is being hunted by Lee Clayton (Marlon Brando). Records show that this film was mostly shot in Montana, but utilized railroad equipment from the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR.
Cumbres & Toltec's D&RGW #483 heads up the train that has been targeted for a robbery.
A stuntman makes his way across the roof of the Hinman Coach #284 (left), which was still dressed for its work on Bite the Bullet. This car is now in use at Georgetown Loop Railway.
I believe that RPO #065 was repainted as "#181", which was cut loose on the trestle in the film. This same car in an identical paint job was featured in Bite the Bullet as well, and can be seen in many other train robberies in 1970s westerns.
