The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid (1972)
The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid (1972)
This film details the last hurrah of the James-Younger Gang, as they attempt to rob the First National Bank of Northfield, MN.
The majority of the film was shot in and around Jacksonville, OR - however some footage of Sierra RR #3 with Caboose #9 is interspersed to show the Pinkertons in pursuit of the outlaws. Sierra #3 is in restoration at Jamestown currently.
This shot shows the conductor hooking a mail bag from Caboose #9, which hasn't seen much action since. Today it is in storage at Jamestown.
For one quick scene of the gang riding on a passenger train, it appears a stock footage shot of Sierra RR #18 pulling coaches #2 & 6 was used and flipped.
Sierra #3 is seen pulling into Sierra's old depot in Standard, representing Northfield, MN and the Pinkerton men unload. This was also seen in My Little Chickadee. Today this is Nature's Whole Food Depot at 19073 Standard Road.
