My Little Chickadee (1940)
My Little Chickadee (1940)
Mae West and W.C. Fields star together for the first time in this western comedy about a gold digger and con man.
Here we see Sierra Railroad #18 at the Sierra's old depot at Standard (here portraying "Little Bend." Surprsingly the depot still stands, and is now Nature's Whole Food Depot at 19073 Standard Rd, Sonora, CA. Remnants of the old tracks can still be found alongside it.
Some great shots of old #18 as Flower Belle (West) climbs aboard. As it steams off, we see Sierra Coach Combine #5, followed by Coaches #1 & 2. Coaches #2 & 5 still survive at Railtown 1897 State Park today. #18 was sold off into private ownership and hasn't fared well over the years. What's left (sans tender) was sold in 2022 to another private party.
A blissfully inebriated Cuthbert makes a grand entrance. This appears to be near the Red Hills outside Jamestown, not far from the Hill Valley site for Back to the Future Part III.
Some great shots of the train underway before it is attacked by Native Americans, forcing Flower Belle to join in.
The "Greasewood" station is actually Sierra's Chinese Camp depot, seen also in Go West this same year. The building no longer stands but Sierra still utilizes the property today. GPS Coordinates: 37.87977942767354, -120.45785349244919
