It's crucial for everyone to have a will to ensure that their assets are distributed according to their expressed wishes. Without a will, a person's intentions may not be honored, potentially causing complex issues for their family. We provide a fixed-price service for both single and mirror wills.
Appointing attorneys to manage your affairs when you are no longer capable is an important consideration. Attorneys can be designated to handle your property and finances, as well as make decisions regarding your health and care. Their role is to follow your instructions or, if you lack capacity, to act as if they were you, always prioritizing your best interests. We offer a fixed price for the setup and registration of Lasting Powers of Attorney.
We are available for home or hospital visits if you are unable to come to our office.
We manage all aspects of probate work.
Even simple estates can be overwhelming and involve extensive correspondence with asset holders and government bodies.
Our services range from standalone grant of probate applications to comprehensive estate administration, which includes settling the estate, distributing assets, and addressing any tax matters.
Our hourly rate for probate and intestacy work is £250 plus VAT. In many cases, we offer fixed fees:
Grant of Probate/Letters of Administration: £750 plus VAT and disbursements*
Grant of Probate/Letters of Administration with a long form IHT return (IHT 400): £1,500 plus VAT and disbursements*
Estate Administration: 3-5% of the gross estate value plus VAT and disbursements* – We assess each case individually and may agree on a lower percentage or a fixed fee depending on the specific circumstances.
*Disbursements include, but are not limited to, the grant application fee, typically £273 plus £1.50 for each additional sealed copy of the grant.
For grant of probate applications, we aim to prepare and submit the application within 28 days of receiving the necessary estate information. Currently, it takes about 28 days for grants to be issued.
We estimate that estate administration will take between 6 and 12 months from the date of death.
We offer initial appointments without charge or obligation for all estate matters.
All work in this area is handled by Emma Coldwell or James Prescott, both directors at our firm with extensive experience in all areas of non-contentious private client work.
