Do you consider yourself religious?
No, because I don't actively practice it. I'm not religious and spiritual
Do you think that your religion has negatively affected your relationship with your sexuality?
Ermmm…. I don't think so just because I wasn't so deep into religion growing up. Like of course as kids yes I was forced to go to church. But I feel like I rebelled from going to church. Because I realised it was s***.
Do you feel like your parents have relaxed views on sexuality?
Yeah because when my mum had me she wasn't married and my dad is a very open person and I was around that all the time
Do you think that you've ever been shamed for your sexuality?
No, because I feel like I have the freedom to dress however I want to and don't care what anyone else thinks. Although I'm a little bit cautious of cat calling, as the other day me and my friends went walking around Kensington where these men in their cars stopped us, but that's life as a woman
What's your opinion on casual sex?
If you want to have casual sex, do you and don't let anyone stop you. I don't really care. For me I couldn't do it just because I feel like I'd be like a dead fish as I feel like I need a connection with someone before I have sex with them.
Do you think that black women are presented as pure in the media?
No, absolutely not, everywhere I go I see black women in skin tight outfits or wearing hardly anything. Although I have no issue with this, I feel like black women as a whole don't have as much control over image.
Do you think it's possible for black women to be sexually liberated in the context?
I think potentially in the era of cardi B and Megan thee Stallion as I feel like they're doing it for themselves. I feel like sometimes black women are forced to be sexual which to me is harmful because how can you be liberated if someone is forcing you to do something.
Do you think that virginity is important?
Yes for the early part of your life until you're mature enough to understand what you wish to do with your sexuality.
Do you still feel like there's a pressure to wait until marriage?
Ermmm… not in my household just because my parents are pretty open. I know for some people there is still that pressure there. At the moment society as a whole is very sex positive and therefore doesn't really care for marriage as such anymore.
Can you name three women that you think sexually free?
Cardi B, Teyana Taylor and Megan Thee Stallion -I think that they are all very open and I love what they do
Do you consider yourself a feminist?
To some extent think it's difficult to say as a black woman as black women historically have been left out of the movement
What would you want your children in the future to understand about sex?
I would want them to have good sex education and understand their body parts fully and also take full control of their sexual health in terms of using protection and contraception.
What was your experience like losing your virginity?
Chilled, Felt pretty comfortable It was nice because I knew a person
Is there anything you would change about your first time?
No no it wasn't bad it wasn't good It was just there
