I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Illinois Chicago.
My research group works at the interface of theoretical condensed matter physics and quantum information science. We focus on investigating new forms of quantum matter and the design of next-generation quantum hardware. My main interests include the theory of superconducting circuits, non-equilibrium quantum systems (like quantum many-body scars and quantum batteries), and the interplay of topology and disorder in quantum matter.
Prior to joining UIC, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Northwestern University in the group of Jens Koch, as well as at Argonne National Laboratory and Yale University. I obtained my Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and my B.S. in Physics from the Universidad de Antioquia in my home country, Colombia.
