These organs control the production and maturation of major defense cells. These keep infectious microorganisms, bacteria and viruses out of the body.

Main Functions of the Immune System:

The immune system is a collection of structures and processes within the body. Essentially, the immune system is to protect against diseases, viruses, and infections. When functioning correctly, the immune system identifies a variety of harmful threat in order to maintain a healthy immune system.

Disorders of the Immune System:

Disorders of the Immune System of consist of asthma and allergies which are immune responses to substances that are commonly unharmful. Immune deficiency diseases are disorders in which the immune system is missing one or more of its “parts”. Autoimmune diseases are disorders that cause the bodies immune system to attack your own bodies cells and tissues by mistake.

Best Practices to Maintain a Healthy Immune System

  • Being a non-smoker.
  • Eating a diet consisting of lots of fruits or vegetables.
  • Exercising regularly.
  • Maintaining a healthy weight for your body type.
  • If your a drinker, only drink moderately.
  • Getting plenty of sleep.
  • Try your best to avoid infections/viruses by washing your hands regularly, and thoroughly cooking meals.
  • Try to reduce stress.
