Porter Horne - DOJ Partially Accredited Representative
Porter had his first interactions with immigrants in high school and has always enjoyed those interactions since. When he retired from his Geek career back to Gainesville Florida in 2015, he also returned to the Evangelical Free Church he had participated in during the 1970s. That led to being asked to organize a Welcome the Stranger event in 2019. In preparation for that event he discovered that the Department of Justice has a program to recognize nonprofits and accredit their staff to assist immigrants as they interact with US Citizenship and Immigration Services. He also discovered that the Evangelical Free Church already operates the Immigrant Hope nonprofit for that specific purpose. Since January 2023, Immigrant Hope Gainesville has provided these services under Porter’s leadership.
