I was raised helping my mom and grandma in the kitchen. I had to help in order to learn how things looked and felt because the recipes were written with phrases like "add flour until not too sticky" and "make a well in the flour, add eggs, mix enough flour in until dough-like". I learned to appreciate that baking is an art and needs to be learned and practiced. The excitement customers express when they see the size of my cookies and cinnamon rolls is a large pat on my back.

I learned to decorate cakes over time. It all started with an abundance of art classes in High School and College. I loved to manipulate clay and draw. Fifteen years ago I took the first Wilton class because I wanted to be able to simply decorate my future children's cakes. The first time I put my hands on fondant, they knew exactly what to do. I have learned a lot from other fellow cake decorators along the way. I love seeing the joy in people's faces when they pick up their cakes.

Baking these treats brings me joy!
