I was raised helping my mom and grandma in the kitchen. I had to help in order to learn how things looked and felt because the recipes were written with phrases like "add flour until not too sticky" and "make a well in the flour, add eggs, mix enough flour in until dough-like". I learned to appreciate that baking is an art and needs to be learned and practiced. The excitement customers express when they see the size of my cookies and cinnamon rolls is a large pat on my back.
