What Happens?
6:30 PM » If no one is in Fuller Lower, the IMGD Media Night Host sneaks in and sets up. Sometimes there are snacks. Sometimes individual tasks from Taskmaster are used as previews.
7:00 PM » After whatever setup is necessary (but no earlier than 7 PM) the Host introduces the playlist for the evening. This will often include a brief description of why the playlist is being shown and its relationship to IMGD. The Host will also guide the audience as to viewing preferences (talking encouraged or not, side-lighting on or not, etc.), and, if there are snacks, invite people to enjoy.
If a single piece of media » After the complete media is shown, the Host will generally raise the lights somewhat while the credits (if any) roll. Discussion and feedback are encouraged.
If multiple pieces of media » Between media there is likely to be a short break as the Host queues the next one. Discussion, feedback, and restroom breaks are encouraged during this time; if requested, the Host will hold the next piece until attendees return. Don't worry about attending the whole thing, though, because:
This event is drop-in/drop-out friendly!
Come for what you want to see, leave for what you don't, or just pop your head for whatever reason.
The Host is not your boss, no one is grading you, don't worry about it.
As much as possible, links to media from the playlist (along with extra content!), will be available on the Media Night Archive pages. If you miss something you wanted to see, or if you want to know more about what's being shown, click on the titles or promo images to visit that night's media.
how did this start?
This began as an edutainment project by IMGD MFA candidate Katherine Crighton in Spring 2025, with the express goal of providing a communal viewing experience for influential and IMGD-relevant media. No one stopped them.
