The number one thing we need from you is your best effort! You will be expected to attend as many sessions as possible. Ideally, you will attend all of the sessions - approximately three sessions a week, for ten weeks. We know a lot can happen in ten weeks, and sometimes life gets in the way - If something comes up, we can work together to find a solution that works best for you!
Most of the sessions are exercise or stretching based (depending on what you are randomly assigned to!), with testing sessions at the beginning and end.
Four of the testing sessions will involve tasks that are entirely safe but may be slightly uncomfortable for some people. These include:
An MRI session (where we scan your brain). You are likely to find this challenging if you don’t like loud noises or small spaces.
Breathing tasks, including making it slightly more challenging to breathe in. One of these tasks will be during the MRI.
A cardiorespiratory fitness test (either running or cycling). During this we will encourage you to briefly go to your limit so we can measure your fitness levels.
We understand that these may be challenging. However, all of these tests will be carried out by trained research members. Our priority is to keep you safe and comfortable at all times! As always, your participation is entirely voluntary.
