""Disruptions in how we perceive body symptoms are thought to be a key aspect of mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. We use breathing to better understand brain-body communication, employing targeted respiratory tasks to measure and change body states. Paired with these tasks, we use brain imaging to investigate how the brain perceives and learns about changes in the body, and how this may be altered with elevated anxiety. We are now running longitudinal studies to investigate how currently available treatments (such as anxiolytics and exercise) can improve anxiety, and how they may (or may not) improve brain-body communication."
In May Dr Olivia Harrison and Faye Gorman had the opportunity to share our research with Health Professionals during the Luncheon Seminar's run by Ashburn Clinic. Above is a recording of the Luncheon Seminar from 13th May 2024 at Ashburn Clinic.
