Profile of the School
Ilugin Elementary School is located at San Sebastian Street Ilugin Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City. It was named Ilugin as at times the area was underwater every time it rained. Our school is in between Nagpayong Elementary School and Pinagbuhatan Elementary School. It was opened due to the overflowing population of Pinagbuhatan Elem. School, thus named Pinagbuhatan Elem, School-Ilugin Annex in SY 1987-1988 with the late Mrs. Ester Villareal as the Principal. There were only Grades 1, 2 and 3 then, with 2 sections each on Double Shifting schedule.
In 1989-1990 Dr. Perla B. Menguito, District Supervisor of Pasig I requested its separation from the mother school and was transformed into a complete elementary school, Dr. Gertrudes C. Madriaga was appointed Principal then. Due to limited classrooms the school is adopting three-shift to accommodate 10 classes. Because of this, the Principal sought the support of the Republic-Asahi Glass Corporation thru the representation of the Rotary Club of Pasig thus, the project was realized.
The old 3-classroom bldg. was demolished and a 2- storey bldg. with rooms, was constructed and was named the Rotary Bldg. It has no Principal’s Office then. After 2 years SY 2004, two rooms were added to accommodate the Administrative Office in the Second Floor and a Kinder Room in the Ground Floor. That time there were already 418 pupils and 10 teachers.

Every three or four years in school means rotation of principals which means a new environment and new sets of teachers as their new flock of herds.
Mrs. Corazon B. Natividad was quite strict to her rules, yet he defines it with love and purity that every teacher may accept her way of managing her faculty members. Managing a short term in her office in IES yet it was a meaningful and a new experience working with her. Her own wit and sense of humor makes up for being a good leader. She left the portals of Ilugin ES with dignity that she stood up and did her best.
Having decided to spend her retirement years in school, Dr. Thelma C. Torio was a God fearing, verse and quotation principal that made her style a quite unique leader. Putting God first in her decisions and action her leadership speaks well of her. Having no ill feeling to her mentors, she always give decision with finess. Staying a short time in Ilugin, she has given 100 percent stature to her leadership.
At present, the dynamic agent behind the school’s successful attainment in every endeavor is a team composed of ninety-eight (98) Permanent teachers serving the school for School Year 2023-2024. DepEd’s advocacy is about health and nutrition. The DepEd’s School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) Fund supports its main objective to reduce, if not eradicate, the number of malnourished schoolchildren. The LGU is a great partner of DepEd in this advocacy. It has its own SBFP along with Food packs given to identified learners. The school serves as a venue for the implementation of these programs. To deal with some health issues, there are some preventive interventions implemented by the school through the sponsorship of DepEd and Nutrition Council in the City Government. The Medical City- Ilugin Community Pediatrics provides various health related services like free eye check-up, physical examination, lectures on mental awareness, dental and medical mission.
Certain projects and interventions are implemented by the school to improve the basic competencies of teachers. These are the school-based training done virtually during the pandemic, attending demonstration teachings, pursuing professional development, and making action research that will aid them in achieving increment in the performance of the school. The school sustains school-based training and other school-initiative projects, as indicated in School Improvement Planning, Annual Procurement Plan, and Project Procurement Management Plan, using the MOOE Fund. Further, the school is directed to have LAC Session wherein the Teacher’s Strengths and Needs Assessment (TSNA) is conferred and where the planning, implementation and evaluation of their commenced programs take place.
The school promotes safe and protective practices based on DepEd’s Policy on Child Protection in School. To respond to this mandate, the school created the School Child Protection Committee where all types of bullying incidents are reported aside from the Anecdotal Record prepared by teachers.
One of the underlying reasons for establishing school projects or programs is to provide a solution to the different hindrances in achieving the targeted goals of schools, schools’ division office, and the Department of Education.
Continuous communication and having a positive relationship with the community, stakeholders, and parents is our key to achieving every goal of our projects. BINHI foundation, PESO SMART Literacy and RecoveReads, Giving Hope Foundation, TARABASA, AHA Teaching at the Right Level and GOKONGWEI Brothers Foundation are some of the partners of the school in ensuring the delivery of quality education to our learners.
The school administrators, faculty, non-teaching, SPTA, and the community of Ilugin Elementary School are working hard to achieve the target goals of the Department of Education.
