Who May Be Nominated?
All committee members must be members of ISLS in good standing at the time of election and for the duration of their terms. Any member of ISLS who is a student (undergraduate or graduate) at the start of their term can be nominated for a leadership position. Members can also self-nominate.
Nomination Process
Nominations must be submitted to this nomination form by June 24, 2025.
Nominees will be asked to provide the following (via the link above):
Name, affiliation, and contact email
Current Educational Status (undergraduate or graduate student)
Primary position for nomination
Secondary position for nomination (if there is more than one nominee for a position, the nominee can express interest in another position, as well)
A brief description (up to ~200 words) of the nominee’s interest in the role and bio to be shared on the ballot. This can include research interests, motivation for nomination, commitment to equity and justice, and any previous or potential involvement with ISLS/CSCL and ILSSA.
Election Process
Elections will be held between July 2 - July 15, 2025. Any student member of ISLS in good standing may vote. A link for voting will be sent out after the nomination period closes. Any positions that only receive one nominee will automatically be claimed (or, for Regional Representatives, any two). Notification of election results will be released in late July, 2025.
If you have questions about the process, please email ILSSA co-chairs Ali Blake (ali.blake@bc.edu) and Morgan Vickery (moravick@iu.edu).

The ILSSA mentoring program aims to create an adaptive, inclusive, collaborative space for Learning Sciences students and researchers to connect, enhance their expertise, and foster personal and professional development. We aim to empower participants by providing opportunities to receive personalized mentorship to address academic challenges, build professional networks, strengthen leadership and communication skills, and gain constructive feedback on their progress where necessary. By joining, individuals become part of a shared journey that focuses on mutual support, growth, and inspiration within the Learning Sciences community.
Contact the program coordinators Lia Haddadian (ghaddadian1@gsu.edu) and John Lopez (johnll2@uci.edu)
Mentors will have the chance to refine their leadership skills through meaningful engagement with mentees, gaining valuable insights into effective communication, strategic problem-solving, and impactful mentorship practices. These experiences not only enhance their professional expertise but also contribute to their personal growth and ability to inspire and guide others - including possible future collaborators - effectively.
Mentees will benefit from personalized support adapted to their unique goals and challenges. Through guidance from experienced mentors, they will enhance their confidence, refine their abilities, identify possible future collaborators, and navigate academic or professional pathways more effectively.
The #writingroom & #silentwritingroom channels in Discord will be open ALL DAY from 7pm EST Thursday (see time zones) until midnight on Friday (see time zones) each week!
Drop in whenever you're able to get some writing done and struggle in solidarity!
