Altruism

Fish Fries

Throughout the years, Mu Chapter has supported many altruistic and charitable projects. Each year we award $500 scholarships to college sophomores or juniors majoring in education. This year we have also made available scholarships to current teachers seeking to further their education. Over the years we have donated money to school backpack projects, summer food programs for students, the local Dove charity, the Christmas Angel Tree funds, and local holiday food baskets. Each year we donate money to one of the various school libraries within our area, allowing them to purchase new books for their students. We have donated to Sandy Hook, Gabe's Chemo Duck Program, and sponsored a local teacher traveling to Liberia to help with teacher training. Each year we sponsor a bingo night with our local seniors, complete with food, treats, and prizes.

We have had several small fund-raising projects over the years but our main project continues to be sponsoring 2 fish fries at Clinton St. John's Catholic Church each spring. The support of our local communities has made this project a huge success.
