Maps
The map where the mission will take place. Each map can have multiple fronts representing different battles that took place on the map.
Enemy targets on map: With this ticked both sides will also see the enemy objectives on the map.
Forward Airstart: Only for Dogfight game mode. This will add two air spawns close to the lines so you can get quickly back in the mission.
MIssion scenario
For each side you can configure the objectives and the two default flights (Blue en Red) that will execute the mission.
Custom Plane Set: The planes that can be selected are limited to those that match the map/time frame. If ticked, a custom set will be used as defined in the tab 'Plane Sets'. See Custom Plane set below.
Ambient AI vehicles: Density of AI vehicles (and AAA, trains, ships, smoke)
Ambient AI aircraft: Total number of extra AI aircraft. Will be divided over both sides in multiple flights for a high number. Can be zero, zo no extra AI aircraft at all. Affects performance.
Ambient AI activity: This determines how motivated the AI is to look for player flights. 'Passive' means they will not actively patrol the objective area, but there is still a random chance that they find you.
Fronts
Each map can have several fronts. This defines a certain region in the map, along with the front lines, which airfields will be used and which target locations. The front represents a specific time frame.
Game Types
Single Mission:
Remember to set the side (Allies or Axis) and which position in the flight you will have: Leader, 2nd (wingman of the leader) or last
Cooperative:
Same as Single Mission but you have the option to select both sides so players can choose their side in the coop lobby.
Dogfight:
Instead of a specific slot you can spawn on the home airfield. If only one player side is chosen, the other side will have AI flights, similar as in single or cooperative mode
To have all aircraft types available on the airfield choose 'any'.
The 'Amount' setting has no meaning, aircraft availability is unlimited
Start location can be 'in the air'. An air spawn airfield will then be created close to waypoint 2.
Further tweaking
Here is a tutorial to tweak a generated mission further by editing it in the full mission builder:
Mission types
Intercept
When selecting 'Intercept' as scenario you will be directed to intercept the enemy leading (Blue) flight. If the other side has 'Bomber' or 'Attack' scenario selected, you will intercept bombers or fighter bombers. If the other side also has 'Intercept' selected, you will intercept enemy fighters that will in turn intercept you. To achieve the objective you need to destroy > 50% of the number of aircraft in the enemy leading flight.
Bombing
Select a specific target type or let the tool choose one for you. Blue flight will fly to the target and level-bomb the target from altitude. Can also be flown as escort mission if you choose Red flight.
To achieve the objective you need to destroy >50% of the target.
Attack
Select a specific target type or let the tool choose one for you. Blue flight will fly to the target and dive bomb the target. Can also be flown as escort mission if you choose Red flight.
To achieve the objective you need to destroy >50% of the target.
Transport
For the resupply mission you need to deliver supplies to the front by landing on an improvised landing strip of from one airfield to another. For resupply it's also possible to drop supplies to complete the objective.
Interdiction
Although in WW2 these were typically attacks on enemy aircraft near airfields at night, Interdiction in EMG are missions to destroy enemy infrastructure deep behind enemy lines.
Close AIR SUPPORT
These are missions where aircraft are used to destroy tactical targets, usually close to the front, to support the army.
Maritime STRIKE
Strike missions on naval targets: cargo ships, patrol boats, submarines but also coastal guns.
RECONAISSANCE
Find the enemy target in the area indicated and make photographs by flying directly above it at altitude. For multiplayer missions you will also need to destroy the target. If you destroy the target first, you will still need to make photos to assess damage.
AIRBORNE ATTACK
Fly to the drop zone, which will be indicated by yellow smoke if you are close enough, then successfully deliver the paratroopers in the drop zone.
Custom Plane set
Every map has a pre-defined plane set, based on the theatre of war where the map is located and the chosen date. If you do not tick 'Custom plane set' in the Scenario tab than you will see only planes from this specific plane set.
If you want a different plane set you can define one in the 'Plane sets' tab. You can start with an empty list, all planes list or a pre-defined plane set from a theatre of war. As follows:
To start from an empty list simply click 'Clear custom plane set' button on the right.
To start from the complete list select 'All Planes' as preset on the left and click ' Copy preset'
To start from a pre-defined plane set from a theatre of war select the theatre name as preset and click 'Copy preset'
Then to add or remove planes from the list:
There are actually multiple lists ('subsets'), one for each category per side.
On the right select the subset you want to edit. It is possible to select multiple entries using ctrl or shift + left click.
You can select any entry on the right and click on 'Remove' to delete the entry
To add an entry select a plane on the left and click 'Add'. You may have to select the proper subset first to find the aircraft you are looking for
Click 'Save' when you are done
In the 'Scenario' tab tick 'Custom plane set' in order to use your plane set
An example. Let's say you want to create a custom plane list which is the same as for Kuban, but adding the Spitfire Mk.VB as an Axis fighter:
On the left choose the preset 'WW2_EAST'
Click 'Copy preset'. Your custom plane set is now the same as what would be used for Kuban, for all possible dates.
On the right select the 'fighters_axis' subset. You will see all the current axis fighters in this plane set.
On the left select the preset 'All Planes' (top)
On the left select the 'fighters_allied' subset. This will show ALL allied fighters available in the game. Note I have clubbed Axis(WW2) and Central Powers(WW1) together, same as for Allies and Entente.
On the left select 'Spitfire Mk.VB'. The entry will be highlighted.
Click 'Add'. The Spitfire will be added to the fighters_axis list in your custom plane set.
Click 'Save'
