20 Ikuno students and 2 teachers spent 10 days in Hervey Bay, Queensland at Fraser Coast Anglican College. From 2026, we have formed a sister school relationship with our friends at FCAC. Students are selected through a writing and interview process. Their goal is to use English as much as possible without fear of mistakes, even amongst themselves.
Students spent a few hours looking for wild koalas and kangaroos in the nearby lakelands.
Students spent break and lunch time with school buddies. Sharing food, culture and interests with Australian high school students was one of the more popular aspects of this program.
Students receive English lessons at Fraser Coast Anglican College: learning about Australian slang, history and culture.
Students learned about Aboriginal culture from two of the Butchulla people, indigenous to Hervey Bay and K'gari Island. It was a valuable chance to understand how the indigenous communities of people lived in Australia.
Students stay with host families during the trip. During the weekend, host families take students out for sightseeing and fun activities.
Ikuno students have an opportunity to visit Korea. This is a 3 day program in which students can visit an Asian country and be involved in a cultural exchange. The trip usually includes sightseeing as well as a one day visit at a local high school.
In 2017, 2018, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 students spent 3 days in Korea sightseeing and spending time with high school students at Younghoon High School in Seoul. Students will visit again in December 2026.
University students from high level universities abroad and within Japan conduct a 5 day program all in English. This program helps students develop positive thinking and critical thinking skills. Students are put in small groups and are tasked with discussing global problems and coming up with solutions. Students make presentations as groups and individually all in English.
We held this program for the 7th time in August 2026. 51 students attended the program and it is one of our most popular programs.
