Resolving genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of the cell fate decision by single-cell multiomics technologies, and redirecting cell fate trajectories of the model diseases by perturbing multimodal drivers and resisters.
Our research goal is to understand how cell decides its fate to be specific cell types. This knowledge will foster us to utilize cell-fate decision mechanisms to modulate cell fates in various biological systems involving development and disease models.
We are pursuing to develop new single cell technology capturing various cellular materials (information) and recording cell states in a single cell resolution. With this cellular information, we will develop computational algorithms to combine multi-layered information, inferring cell hierarchy: clonal origin, current state and inferred future state, in development and disease models.
In addition, we will apply perturbation approaches to patient samples for redirecting disease progression by targeting the defined regulatory circuits. We are hoping to support correct diagnosis based on hidden cell hierarchy and further to cure diseases by skewing the path of disease exacerbation.
