Welcome to my website!
I received my PhD in economics at The University of Texas at Austin in 2022. Since then, I joined Charles River Associates (CRA) where I am Senior Associate in the Antitrust and Competition Practice in Boston.
My email is ijnunez (at) utexas.edu
At CRA my experience covers various industries with projects related to digital advertising, cloud services, communication testing technologies, retail, healthcare, steel, and ammonia production. I specialize in conducting empirical analysis and merger simulation models, including two-sided markets, Nash bargaining models, and causal inference analysis.
My past research relate to econometric methods to estimate values in multiple-round simultaneous auctions, theoretical work on optimal pricing of energy in electricity markets, evaluating the environmental effect of subsidy policies in energy markets, long-term planning of power grids and the optimal technology mix, and more recently horizontal merger under capacity constraints. My work has been published by the Energy Economics and Telecommunication Policy journals.
Prior to my graduate studies I received my Bachelor and Master degrees in Industrial and Electrical Engineering in 2014. I then worked as Research Professor at Universidad de los Andes in Chile from 2014 to 2017. During this period, I taught industrial organization and calculus to undergraduate students and started research projects on electricity markets. I also worked with Alexander Galetovic starting new research projects and consulting projects related to public transportation, fishing, retail, and other industries.
