The 'International Journal of E-Planning Research' first Annual Conference, to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, 31 March and 1 April 2016, at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning – University of Lisbon, will explore recent developments, emerging issues and future challenges in the field of Urban e-Planning.
Urban planning has been affected, in different ways and with different outcomes, by the increasing and widespread use of Web 2.0 technologies and mobile devices equipped with multiple sensors. With the advent of these new digital tools, a whole range of new possibilities emerged in the planning field.
The conference will provide a forum for the critical discussion of these new approaches, methods, and tools in the field of urban planning.
We hope the Conference will be an opportunity to enhance the 'Urban E-Planning Research Network' (UEP-NET). The UEP-NET aims to exchange information and to enhance the discussion on the emerging issues associated with the widespread use of information and communication technologies, especially the Internet, in all stages of the spatial planning process. The UEP-NET seeks to connect researchers, students, and planners, working in the broad field of urban and regional planning and interested in the use of information and communication technologies, namely in land use planning, in strategic spatial planning, and in community planning.
One of the expected outcomes of the conference is the publication of a selection of papers in the 'International Journal of E-Planning Research (IJEPR)'. The selected papers will undergo the IJEPR standard peer-review process. It is also planned the publication of a selection of papers in a book.
