Course Objectives:

Earthquakes have caused vast devastation of infrastructure systems and facilities and have exposed the deficiencies in the existing design and construction practices. The aim of the course is to abreast the participants with fundamentals of seismic design procedures for multi-storied reinforced concrete buildings.

At the end of the course, the participants are expected to:

  1. Have an overall understanding about the seismic design concepts, procedure and current code of practices.
  2. Understand the impact of the recently revised Indian seismic code IS 1893 and IS 13920 on the design of RC buildings.
  3. Have a better appreciation of various construction details with respect to seismic response.
