Regular Wheels
This is a regular Robot Wheel. These wheels are easy to mount, durable and cheap. These wheels either have a 6mm hole for the shaft or a sponge liner. They are available with sockets to fit a BO motor or a Geared Motor as well. The Geared Motor variant comes with a screw for fitting making it very easy to mount on the motors. They are available in various widths from 20mm to 40mm and diameters from 40mm to 60mm. Additionally, they feature a large selection of tire treads suitable for different surfaces. This feature allows you to use them indoors and outdoors.
Mecanum Wheels
Mecanum Wheels are special wheels. They allow omnidirectional motion for the robot. Special software is needed in the microcontroller to get the most out of these wheels. Such wheels can only be used in 4-motor robot build configurations. The mecanum wheel is a form of tireless wheel, with a series of rubberized external rollers obliquely attached to the whole circumference of its rim. These rollers typically each have an axis of rotation at 45° to the wheel plane and at 45° to the axle line. Each Mecanum wheel is an independent non-steering drive wheel with its own powertrain, and when spinning generates a propelling force perpendicular to the roller axle, which can be vectored into a longitudinal and a transverse component in relation to the vehicle.
