The Intelligent Interaction Research (I2R) Lab develops advanced interactive technologies to help individuals with mental/cognitive challenges. Currently, we focus on human-machine interaction research for individuals on the autism spectrum and older adults with Alzheimer's Disease and Related dementia (ADRD).
Our lab was initialized at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Fall 2017. In Fall 2019, we moved to the Rochester Institute of Technology. In Summer 2024, the lab was moved to the University of Notre Dame.
We are a group of engineers who work closely with healthcare providers, psychologists, cognitive scientists, social workers, and other professionals.
Although we spend much time developing technologies in an engineering lab, we also emphasize communication with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
We believe interactive technology will eventually be a key factor in addressing current difficulties in behavioral health. We hope our efforts will improve the quality of life. We want to see more laughter, happiness, care, and humanity.
