3MT (Three Minute Thesis), the University of Hawaii at Manoa, 2018


IMELDA is an assistant professor of Economics at the Graduate Insitute Geneva. Before, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Economics Department at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Her research explores the intersection of energy, health, and environmental economics, looking at how variable pricing can reduce the costs of renewable energy in electricity markets and how the energy transition can impact health and the economic livelihoods of households in developing countries.


She completed her doctoral degree in Economics at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She received Indonesian Ambassador’s Awards for Excellence in 2016 and received Henry Mok and James Mak best publication award in 2018. She holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the same institution and received her Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Padjadjaran, Indonesia.

She is experienced in social protection research in the developing world. She is also an alumnus of the East-West Center and has been involved in many cultural activities as an effort to share the culture of Indonesia (Likok Pulo Dance 2013 and 2015; Angklung performance 2015 and others).
