Illia Humeniuk is a Ukrainian-Estonian conductor and composer. He focuses mainly on so-called minimalist music (music of repetitive structures), Orthodox church music and Ukrainian music.

He began choral conducting and composition studies in 2015 at the Mykolaiv College of Music Arts under V. Maikova and S.Kumysh. 

In 2019 Illia was enrolled in the Choral Conducting Department of the Ivan Kotlyarevsky Kharkiv National University of Arts (class of Prof. Yurii Yanko) In the same year he became the assistant choirmaster at the Cathedral of the Annunciation. His duties included conducting rehearsals with the choir and accompanying church services.

Since 2021, he has been studying conducting at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with Professor Toomas Kapten. In Estonia, Illia has been conductor of several choirs, including Mixed Choir Tuljak, Mixed Choir Wannamoisa, Chamber Choir Avis Animi, Female Chamber Choir Muusad, Mixed Choir HUIK! and others. In the autumn 2022 Illia assembled the Chamber Choir Pattern, with whom he performe Ukrainian and Estonian music in Tallinn. He has actively participated in conducting masterclasses with Marc Korovich, Silvère van Lieshout, Andrew Megill, Frieder Bernius, Erki Pehk, Mikael Wedar and worked with the Estonian National Opera and Vanemuine Opera Choirs (under H. Jürgenson, A. Bražnik, J.Fridolin).

For the 2021/22 concert season, he was the Orthodox Singers Ensemble's (cond. V. Petrov) resident composer. The UK premiere of one of the works, Pater Noster, was performed by the Anchorae Quartet at the Bristol Contemporary Choral Day. He also wrote music for the spectacle of Rakvere Theatre - Lohe linna all (Dragon Under the City, 2022) and his work ‘ce cises’ was performed in the Netherlands, USA, and Australia as part of the "Towards a Shining Light" project (2023/24). In September 2024, he was Composer-in-Residence at Kražiai College, Lithuania.

For season 2025/26 he is an Erasmus student at The Royal Music College in Stockholm (under prof.F.Malmberg).
