Rules and Regulations for the staying inside the IHMCT Hostel Premises.

OBEJECTIVE :- The guiding principle towards the formulation of the rules and regulations for hostelites is to ensure a secure, comfortable and pleasant stay, and create an environment which is conducive to learning. Boarders are expected to understand that individually and collectively they are responsible for the good name and reputation of the hostel. Any disciplinary measures/tools are designed to achieve the above objectives and must be accepted in that spirit. Failure to abide by these rules will be considered an unprofessional conduct on part of the residents, and will attract appropriate disciplinary action like suspension or rustication from the hostel or even termination from the institute. The hostelites are advised to adhere to the following rules and regulations diligently:
The boarder will be required to occupy the hostel seat granted for minimum period of the academic year of his/her course. And will not request to vacate the same before completion of the said period, until and unless so advised by IHMB authority.
Allotment of room/seat may not necessarily be of one’s choice. It is the sole discretion of IHMB administration, which may allot the room/bed either on first come first serve basis or any other basis, intentionally placing students of varying academic, cultural, social and national backgrounds together so that cross cultural, academic, social and national learning is achieved. Rooms once allotted will not be changed without any genuine and acceptable reason.
Students are advised to keep lock their Cupboards/Room all the time and they should not keep any valuables in their room. The Institute/hostel authority will not be responsible for any kind of theft or misplacement of things from the room. One room key to be handed over to the warden/Security In-charge in a sealed envelope.
Each Boarder should check the furniture & electrical fittings in his/her room at the time of occupation and take over the furniture & fittings in writing which are returnable at the time of vacating the room. He/She is responsible for the care and maintenance of furniture & fittings and any loss or damage will be borne by concerned boarder/s.
Students must keep the Campus & Rooms clean. Defacing walls, equipment, furniture etc., is strictly prohibited and this shall be penalized.
Strict adherence to the prescribed dress code for the girls and boys is required. Decency in dressing & demeanor is a must. Any type of short dress/bodycon or body-hugging dress is not allowed at IHMCT Hostel Premises. (T-shirt/Kurta and a full length lower/Pajama is permitted)
During Lecture hours in the institute, no student is allowed to remain in the hostel, without the permission of the warden. Those absenting themselves from the class or institute programme, disciplinary action shall be taken for them.
Uses of all unauthorized electrical appliances such as personal iron, heater etc. are strictly prohibited. Iron to be used in the designated common area only within the specific time limit. Students must turn off all the electrical equipment & lights before leaving their rooms.
Playing games and any kind of music inside the room is strictly prohibited if found any music is playing the device/Instrument will be confiscated. Taking photos, recording video in IHMCT-Hostel Premises is strictly prohibited.
Ragging in any form in the hostel/institute is illegal and banned as per an Act of Govt. of India. Any boarder indulging in any form of ragging and reported against, will face strict disciplinary action which may include expulsion from the hostel or institute or both, levy of fines, and even lodging of an FIR against the offender at the local police station, if the case so merits. Pranks and rowdy games in any form are strictly prohibited.
Smoking, possession and consumption of liquor, narcotics and toxic substance of any kind, possession of Hukka, and any manner of immoral activities such as gambling etc., are strictly prohibited in and around the hostel premises. If anyone violating the rule will be immediately suspended / rusticated from the hostel or even terminated from the institute.
No meeting shall be held in the hostel Premises without approval of the Hostel Warden.
No boarder is permitted to allow an outsider to stay in his/her room. Presence of undesirable persons should promptly be reported to the warden/security.
Girls are strictly restricted to enter in boy’s hostel Premises and boys are strictly restricted to enter in girl’s hostel Premises.
Parents/guardians may visit their wards at the hostel with prior intimation to the Hostel Superintendent.
The Entry time is 8.00 pm during all the days for the all the students, beyond the time entry shall not be permitted. No excuse of Traffic, rain, cab etc. shall be considered.
Students are not expected to enter in the kitchen or give instructions to the kitchen staff. If there is any complaint they may bring it to the attention of the wardens at the earliest.
The hostel fee once deposited for an academic year, Hostel room rent is not refundable under any circumstances however the mess charges may be refundable on pro rata basis. No amount will be refunded to the student if the student is expelled from the hostel on disciplinary ground.
All hostels and messes will remain closed during the vacation or as decided by IHMB Management.
Washing clothes and other things are not allowed after 9PM in the Bathrooms/Washing areas.
Hostel Proctor and Asst. Hostel Proctor may be nominated from amongst the boarders to assist the Hostel Superintendent / Hostel Warden.
The hostel room of any student can be inspected at any time by the Proctor, Hostel Superintendent, Hostel Warden or any official of the institute.
Students should report personally for the roll call daily. Hostelites should report back to their hostel within the specified time. If a hostelite is found to be absent from the hostel without prior permission from Hostel Warden, appropriate disciplinary action will be initiated by the authorities.
Students are not allowed to organize any kind of group activities in their room. No students are allowed to go other student’s room.
Students should register their names in entry register while going outside themselves only. Strict action shall be taken against the students, who makes entry on behalf of others.
The Security guard is allowed to frisk the students during their entry and exit.
The warden and the security guard are allowed to check the room and cupboards of the students without prior intimation at any time.
Food will be served only in the designated Dining Hall and only during the specified timings. No outside food is allowed inside the rooms however the students can have outside food in the dining hall before 9 pm only. Students have to leave the dining hall at 9 pm. Wasting food & water will not be encouraged.
All Room lights must be switched off before 10 pm in the rooms. Only study lamps are permitted.
Tipping of Security Guards, Cleaning staff etc., is not permitted.
Any type of alteration of furniture, fixtures etc. provided by Hostel authorities is strictly prohibited.
Visitors are not allowed beyond the visiting area. No outside Guest\Students will be allowed inside the hostel.
No student shall bring or store any firearm, ammunition, any object which can be used to harm others, explosive and inflammable goods on the premises of the hostel.
Any complaints regarding electric equipment, plumbing etc., is required to be entered in the ‘Complaints Book’ which is available with the security guard.
Strict silence is to be maintained by all resident students at all times inside the hostel premises. Care should be taken at all times to ensure that music\loud talking is NOT audible outside the room.
Any manner of festivities and noise making\celebrations will not be entertained, which may cause disturbance to other inmates in the hostel premises. "No students are allowed to go outside the hostel, including going to offer prayer to any religious place, after 8 PM."
Theft/damages to hostel assets in Room, common areas/corridors shall be recovered from the student’s security deposit amount. Strict disciplinary action shall be taken by the IHM-B Management against the students who found to be involved in such type of activities.
Daily Attendance will be held on 8.45pm or the timing mentioned by warden the at dining hall only. All the students are required to present at the same time.
Students during their stay in the hostel will be governed by the IHMCT Bangalore management rules.
