Prof. Stephen Brewster

University of Glasgow

Presentation title: Designing New Interfaces for Cars

Steve Brewster's research is all about allowing people to use technology in the richest ways possible. He runs the Multimodal Interaction Group at Glasgow University where they look at how they can use different human senses and control capabilities in user interfaces. Steve is interested in non-speech and 3D sound, haptics and gestures. He applies these to mobile phones, digital cameras, touchscreens and cars. A strong focus is on users who cannot see screens either because they are mobile and looking at the environment around them, or due to a visual impairment.
