#GettingReady
This curriculum reflects iGoCitizen’s value statement, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030: transforming conversations into active global citizenship. It is tailor-fit to complement and bring to heightened awareness the socio-political landscape present in Sri Lanka. Such includes integrating global citizenship education concepts, particularly embedded in social cohesion, peacebuilding, and active citizenship in discussion and activity items, paralleled with global perspectives.
The current syllabus was developed by iGoCitizen team members, using evidence-based empirical research and contributions from lived experience from Sri Lankan community members, locally and abroad.
Our global citizenship education curriculum aims to provide the groundwork for intercultural dialogue through tailored activities and discussions, collectively sourced in an online Knowledge Hub for continued research and knowledge sharing.
We are indebted to all contributors for their time, individual experience, and expertise provided to this syllabus. We hope to contribute to the foundational Sustainable Development Goals ethos to leave no one behind and transform research into action for our generation and the next.
“Education is about more than literacy and numeracy. It is also about citizenry” – UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the launch of the Secretary General’s Global Education First Initiative
