Greetings, I'm Professor Sung Yang, Director of the Global Research Group for Unmet Infectious Disease Response Technologies (IGNITE) at GIST.
Our team has been selected as part of the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT's national strategic initiative InnoCORE, which supports global talent in AI and science & technology convergence. This program brings together leading mentors from Korea's top universities and world-renowned research institutions.
AI + BioMEMS + Infectious Disease Diagnostics & Therapeutics — The IGNITE (Innovative Global Network for Infectious disease Theranostics & Excellence) Research Group at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) is seeking 25 exceptional postdoctoral researchers.
Our Mission
To develop an integrated Sample-to-Treatment platform for infectious diseases by combining ultra-rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST), saliva-based molecular diagnostics, and AI-designed protein antibiotics — powered by AI, quantum, and nanotechnology convergence.
Who We're Looking For
Experts in BioMEMS, microfluidics, and lab-on-a-chip system design
Researchers in AI/machine learning-based pathogen classification and antimicrobial resistance prediction
Developers of molecular diagnostics and immunoassays for ultra-sensitive biosensor platforms
Specialists in protein engineering, computational biology, and AI-driven drug design (e.g., AlphaFold3), nanomedicine, and drug delivery
Researchers in multi-omics analysis, immunology, and sepsis pathophysiology
Ph.D. holders in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry, materials science, bioengineering, life sciences, medicine, and related fields
