Class overview
STEM 11 Sapphire proudly stands as the addition section of the STEM strand in Alangalang National High School, formed to accommodate the growing number of students passionate about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. More than just an added section, Sapphire holds a special place in the school’s history as part of the last batch of the original STEM strand before the system transitioned into a more selective structure.
As a class, the Ignisians of STEM 11 Sapphire are defined not only by academic drive but also by their unique character. The students are known for being respectful, considerate, and collaborative—individuals who value empathy, understanding, and genuine connection. They are learners who don’t just focus on formulas and theories, but also take time to understand others, support one another, and create a positive environment. True to their name, Ignisians carry the fire of courage and passion, illuminating every challenge they face with determination and warmth.
Balancing intellect with compassion, STEM 11 Sapphire represents a community where growth is both academic and personal. They strive for excellence while staying grounded, proving that strength in STEM can go hand-in-hand with kindness, emotional depth, and the fearless spirit of the Ignisians.

Someone's Note
To the best crew anyone could ask for,
"Ciao", an Italian word that means hello.
For years of existence, never in my life I met people who's capable of understanding the nature of human behavior. We came from different backgrounds, from different environment, and with unique physical traits. From the very start, the room full of people was silent, no one dares to speak unless called upon for recitation. We were shy to start a conversation with our fellow classmates. This stillness continued until the last days of 1st semester. But who would've thought that we wished to communicate with each other early? For this time of the year, we regret not to do so?
Why? Because we wished we had gotten to know each other more deeply than we do now. We realized that time had quietly taken away the opportunities we once had—moments that could have brought us closer. It feels like time moves too fast, and no matter how much we try, it never seems enough for us to truly be together.
However, we must learn to let go of things that are not meant to be held onto forever. The deeper the connection, the deeper the pain when we begin to long for it. We have to accept the reality—we are no longer children, where every day was simply about playing games and spending time with our friends. Even so, letting go doesn’t mean forgetting.
As we move forward, we carry these memories with us. They shape who we are and remind us of the laughter, misunderstandings, and the small moments that helped us grow together. Though we step into the unknown, the past remains a quiet companion, whispering lessons of friendship, connection, and the fleeting nature of time.
And so, let me say the word “ciao” once again—but this time, not as a greeting, but as a farewell.
A farewell to the moments we once had, to the memories we built in the present, and to the time that quietly slips into the future.
Ciao—to what was, to what is, and to what will never be the same again.
With love,
Nick Mercado
