In the next article, we will explore what happens during life after the Spiritual Exercises. Over the past decades the focus of research has shifted from consideration of the election or reform of life made during the Exercises, to their dynamic potential to unleash a new way of life. Dr Annemarie-Paulin Campbell presents her research into the experience of those who have completed the Exercises. She discovers that it is often challenging to go back to everyday life to make the incremental changes that need to live in the spirit of the Exercises. She presents the case for developing support mechanisms that help people to discover the Spiritual Exericses as a way of life.
Dr Annemarie Paulin-Campbell is a South African Catholic laywoman who has been working in the area of Ignatian Spirituality for the past twenty years. She heads up the Spirituality work of the Jesuit Institute South Africa which is based in Johannesburg.
